Commemorative Disc
The design inspiration for the commemorative disc in this event came from Kunqu Opera, which originated in Kunshan, Suzhou, China, in the 14th century. Kunqu Opera, refined by Wei Liangfu and others, has been a dominant force in Chinese theater for nearly 300 years since the mid-Ming Dynasty. Known for its elegant lyrics, graceful melodies, and delicate performances, Kunqu Opera is hailed as the “Mother of Hundred Operas”.
Tang Xianzu’s masterpiece, The Peony Pavilion, is a classic piece of Kunqu Opera, and the twin lotus is one of the “Three Treasures of Kunshan”, along with the qionghua flower and the kun stone. The organizers imprinted the twin lotus and excerpts from “The Peony Pavilion” on the tournament discs, adding a unique touch to the event.
This event saw the participation of eight teenagers, with one even stepping onto the podium in the MA2 category. The involvement of young people not only promotes the development of disc golf but also injects more youthful energy into the sport. We look forward to seeing more people participate in the future, adding more charm to this sport.
